Shyamal Educational Trust has been set up with the aim of providing resources and support to Children with Special Needs (CWSN).
AUTREAT WELLNESS CENTRE, which was set up in 2015 by the members of the Trust in their personal capacity, is now being run by the trust to work more for children with developmental challenges like Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Asperger’s Syndrome etc.
Such children need long term therapies like Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Sensory Integration Therapy and Special Education.
The Trust has been set up to address the various challenges which the parents of a CWSN will face / are facing. Some of the critical challenges are:
- Who will take care of your child should you become critically ill or permanently disabled?
- Would your special child be able to fend for himself when you are no longer around?
- If your child needs constant medical attention or is suffering from a major illness, would your appointed Guardian have the time and resources to provide such attention considering that he/she is working or has a family of his/her own?
- Who will make sure the funds that you have allocated for your child is well managed?
- How can you ensure the assets you have set aside for the child are not abused by unscrupulous third parties?
- How do you make sure that your other children are not over-burdened with caring for the sibling with special needs?
The Trust aims to work in following areas:
Set up a home for children with disabilities who need constant medical care/attention for life, so that they can be taken care of for their lifetime.
Set up a dedicated school and vocational training centre for CWSN, where the children can do various courses from NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) according to their ability.
The Trust is registered under Indian Trust Act 1982 (Regn. No. 152/2022). Income Tax Exemption (80G) is available for donation by Indian Nationals.
